These climbers should be well trained and experienced before attempting to scale a large rock wall alone. Learning the best way to climb a rock depends on the type of rock the climber is climbing and what is available nearby. Different types of climbing include: aid climbing where climbers carry all of their climbing equipment; traditional climbing where the climber makes most of their own equipment; sport climbing; and rock climbing in which the climber relies on his or her strength rather than equipment for protection. Each style of climbing is better suited for different kinds of terrain. Rock climbing can be done without any protective gear if the climber is able to move up and down with difficulty. It is important to know what kind of terrain is best for a particular technique so that you will be able to choose a climbing technique that best fits you. Once you have learned the techniques for a particular style of climbing you can then begin learning more advanced techniques.
